The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board of Directors is proud to announce the first Battle of the Bands competition on Saturday, October 24. Southeast Georgians are invited downtown from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to buy a plate of barbeque from a local vendor, kick back and enjoy performances from a number of bands.
“Battle of the Bands is not only intended to draw more people to the downtown area during the festival, but recognize and create a promotional outlet for local artists to be exposed to the community” said Downtown Director Maika Kicklighter.
The festival planning committee will be accepting the first six bands and four solo artists; totaling ten performances for the competition. A cash prize of $1,500 will be awarded to the band winner and a cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the solo artist winner.
“The DDA has been working hard to expand the festival and increase the number of visitors that travel to downtown Jesup,” said DDA Chairman Joe Ierardi. “The festival planning committee has begun the preparation work for a revamped, high- energy event that is sure to draw a large crowd.”
The DDA is accepting Battle of the Bands applications until October 16th. Applications can be picked up from Jesup City Hall, the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce or online at www.jesupga.gov. For more information, contact Maika Kicklighter at 912-256-4627 or mkicklighter@jesupga.gov.
