After the downtown streetscape was completed in 2003, the City of Jesup decided to host a celebration to show off the newly revitalized downtown area. That celebration became known as the Jesup Arch Fest. This annual festival was named after the Jesup Arch. The Arch has been a historic landmark since the early 1940's, but had to be removed due to highway safety concerns. In 2003, a duplication of the Arch was placed in front of the City Hall; therefore the dedication of the Arch was the kick-off event. The first five years of the festival have been very successful.
Fun Fact: When we first started the Arch Fest we did not know the exact date of the establishment of the City of Jesup. The Arch Fest was planned on the 4th weekend in October in 2003 which also happened to fall on the date that the City of Jesup was established on October 23rd, 1870.
