City Commissioners
District 1 |
Ricky A. Reddish Sr. has served as a City Commissioner for District 1 for twelve years. He has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence for training as a City Commissioner and obtained the highest level of Georgia Municipal Association training. He is a high school graduate and attended St. Leo College. He is also a retired U.S. Army Drill Sergeant. He is a member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #529, and Altamaha Lodge #321. He and his wife Sharon have two children, Kutina and Ricky Jr. They have a daughter-in-law Wantika Reddish, two grandsons, Keyshon & Cameron and one granddaughter, Cayla. |
District 2

Don Darden City Commissioner for District 2, is a native of Wayne County, graduated from Wayne County Training School, and attended Columbus State University and Drury College. Don retired as Sergeant Major after serving 22 years in the United States Army. He became the first African American mail carrier in Jesup, and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service. As a member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, he has served as Deacon Board Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, Male Choir Member, and Budget Committee Chairman. He is a member of the Wayne County Branch of NAACP, and has served on the Wayne County Tax Assessor Board, Wayne County Industrial Development Authority Board, and Martha Rawls Smith Renaming Committee. He was elected as City Commissioner for District 2 during a Special Election held in March 2009. Don and his wife, Eliza, have been married for 43 years, and have four children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grand child. |
District 3

Nick Harris is a graduate of Wayne County High School & North Georgia Technical College. After graduating, he moved to the Atlanta area for 13 years. In 1996 he and his wife, Candee (Beecher) Harris, returned home to Jesup. They have two children and reside in Wayne Terrace subdivision.

District 4

Bobby Townsend was born and grew up in Wayne County. He attended Empire Elementary School and graduated from Wayne Co. High School in 1959. He attended the University of Georgia. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 35 years of service. After retiring from the GA DOT, Bobby has worked with R.B. Baker Construction, Inc. of Savannah, Georgia serving as a Materials Engineer for the past 8 years. He is a member of the First Baptist Church, a member and past president of the touchdown club, and recreation coach for 25 years. Bobby is married to Ellen (Davis) Townsend from Odum, Georgia. They have three sons, Robert, Stan, and Mark. They have eight grandchildren. Ellen and Bobby enjoy activities with their children and grandchildren, antiquing, and baseball. District 6 |
Geneva D. Nichols, City Commissioner for District 6, is the only known spouse in Jesup’s history to also serve as a commissioner. Her husband, James D. Nichols, Sr. of 44 years previously served three terms. She serves on the State Board Garden Club of Georgia, Wayne County Tourism Board, and is chairman of the City Tree Board. She is an active member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She and husband Jerry have two sons and three grandchildren. Email Link: Geneva D. Nichols

City Manager

Onda Cole Woodard, City Manager is the first female City Manager in Jesup. She was born in Kinston, N.C. and has resided in Jesup for the past 41 years. She graduated frm Wayne County High School in 1974 and certified as City Clerk and Finance Officer through the University of Georgia (Carl Vinson Institute of Municipal Government). Onda is married to to A. Bruce Woodard, Jr. and they have two children, Erica W. Pittman and Dylan B. Woodard. Son in law - Dennis Pittman with three grandchildren Ciera, Austin and Ashlyn.
